The Games in Education Symposium is an opportunity for Middle and High School educators in the Capital Region to learn about and share best practices in the use of video games as tools for learning in their core curriculum. Sponsored by local organizations such as 1st Playable Productions, The Schenectady Museum & Planetarium, and WMHT, the symposium brings in nationally recognized educators who have become leaders in applying this new media in middle and high school classrooms. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the 2007 symposium, our next event will span 2 days and will include more hands-on activities and workshops, including the opportunity to share more local experiences in this area. Here's where you can help!
If you are a local educator using video games in the classroom, we'd like to include you in a workshop or panel where you can share what you have learned with other local educators. Possible topics include:
- Practical experiences of how you've incorporated games into your lesson plans — what went well, what you'd do differently
- Specific games you have found beneficial
- Experiences in incorporating a new media into the curriculum — funding and perceptions
